Talgo and EKE are to cooperate on the RENFE Avril AVE trains to implement a redundant Train Control and Management System (TCMS) as well as SIL-2 safety applications.

EKE-Electronics delivers redundant EKE-Trainnet Train Control and Management System (TCMS) to Talgo to be used on the RENFE Avril AVE trains. The project includes also several SIL-2 safety functionalities which will be developed for Talgo.

EKE-Electronics’ Train Control and Management System for Talgo includes comprehensive Train Communication Network (TCN), Vehicle Control Units (VCU) and Remote IO Modules (RIOM). For this project EKE-Electronics also develops various SIL-2 safety functionalities, such as monitoring of bearing temperature and supervision of the sub-systems including brakes, pipes, suspensions, fire detection and doors. These SIL-2 functionalities make Talgo trains the most advanced and safe high speed train.

With this project EKE-Electronics and Talgo continues the successful collaboration in providing state-of-the art TCMS systems for high speed trains, which has started in 2014 with Haramain high speed train project.

Talgo’s representative declared:

“Our current cooperation and relationship with EKE-Electronics is true partnership. EKE is a well-known supplier of TCMS systems and known for reliable and competitive products. We are fully satisfied with EKE-Electronics and how they deal with project challenges.”
