functions
The Trainnet® CAN Gateways are used to create train consist networks. CAN gateways come with at least one CAN interface module which implements the CAN link layer functions.
The modular design of the gateways enables the addition of other CAN interfaces as well as other bus interfaces such as WTB, MVB, Ethernet or Serial Link. The most common is the WTB-CAN gateway. However, EKE’s technology allows development of MVB-CAN gateways, CAN-Ethernet Gateways and even WTB-MVB-CAN-Ethernet-Serial Link Gateways. Input/Output modules can be added to the same rack to build a complete coach computer.
key features
A Trainnet® CAN Gateway includes of at least one Trainnet® CAN Vehicle Bus Interface Module (CVB). The Trainnet® CVB is used to create up to two CAN Buses in the train. The 2 CAN ports can be independently configured as CAN 2.0 A/B or CANopen. In addition to the CVB module, the gateway must also have a Central Processing Unit (CPU) and a power supply.
The routing between the CAN bus and other buses are implemented by the gateway CPU Module. The CPU can control more than one Trainnet® CVB module to implement physically separated CAN networks. As described above, additional bus interface modules and I/O cards can be added to provide additional capabilities.
